Melody Tiemann was born and raised in a small South Texas town.  Some of her earliest memories are of playing in the mud with her brothers and cousins, building cities, roads, and forts. It is this love of being in the earth and creating imaginary worlds that eventually led to her pursuing her degree in ceramics. Before studying ceramics, Melody received an associate of science from Victoria College in 1997.  Melody continued her education at Texas State University-San Marcos where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2003.  In 2007, she received her Master’s of Fine Arts from The University of Mississippi.

Melody is the current Artist in Residence, Clay at the Appalachian Center for Craft.  Her work has been published in the Yalobusha Review, and been shown nationally.  She is a member of Kappa Pi National Art Honor Fraternity, and National Council on Education of the Ceramic Arts (NCECA).
